MSG Dental Care are supporting patients with needle phobia with an exciting instrument called The Wand.

Many people who have had a bad experience with injections think that needles sting because the skin is pierced, but this is usually not so. Mostly, the stinging sensation is caused by the anaesthetic being put in too quickly.

With The Wand, the flow rate of the local anaesthetic is controlled by a computer. This means that the injection is guaranteed to be slow and steady and therefore comfortable.

The Wand has pressure feedback which means if it meets resistance, it slows down making the experience pain-free. With the standard manual technique, some dentists might be tempted to push a little harder when they meet resistance – which is a common cause of pain during injections.

The Single Tooth Anaesthesia mode allows the tooth to be numbed with less numbness to the surrounding area. This is great if for patients who hate the numb feeling, as the lip and tongue go far less numb, or not numb at all. It also has huge advantages for children, as it reduces the risk of them accidentally biting their lip while numb.

Dr Chris Burton, Principal dentist and owner of MSG Dental Care said, “We have converted a number of dental phobic patients since we introduced the Wand as the process is so comfortable. Our commitment to staying at the forefront of dental innovation means we are using the latest technology which enables us to provide the best level of care to our community.”

MSG Dental Care invites patients suffering anxiety around dental treatment to experience the benefits of The Wand. To schedule an appointment or learn more about the practice’s services, please call 01325 333 336
